Frequently asked questions

›What size is a New Zealand NZeTA photo?

It is a digital photo with no set print size. The head, measured from chin to top of hair, must be 70%–80% of the photo height. Digital file: JPEG, 512 KB – 3 MB. pixtidy exports 2100×2800 pixels, inside the official limits.

›What size is an NZeTA photo?

Immigration New Zealand asks for a JPG in 3:4 portrait format, between 900×1200 and 2250×3000 pixels and between 500 KB and 3 MB, with your face covering 70–80% of the image. Use a plain, light background; light grey works well.

›Can I take my NZeTA photo myself?

Selfies are only for the NZeTA mobile app. For the website, Immigration NZ recommends having someone else take the photo. It must be less than 6 months old and must not be edited with filters, beautification or AI tools.

›Does pixtidy apply for the NZeTA for me?

No. pixtidy only makes and checks the photo. You request the NZeTA yourself on the official Immigration New Zealand website or app.

›Can I take a New Zealand NZeTA photo at home with my phone?

Yes. Ask someone to take it from about 1–1.5 m away at eye level, in daylight, in front of a plain light-coloured wall that is NOT white — light grey or light blue. Face the camera with a neutral expression and no glasses. Upload it here and we crop, size and check it for you.

›Why do photos get rejected?

The most common reasons are: head too small or too large, shadows on the face or background, wrong background colour, glasses or glare, a tilted head, blur, and photos edited with filters or AI. Our checker tests each of these before you pay.

›Do you edit or retouch my face?

No. Officials reject photos altered with filters or AI, so we only crop, level and resize. We never change your face or replace the background.

›Is my photo uploaded to your servers?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Your photo never leaves your device and we never store it.

›What if my photo is rejected?

If an official rejects a photo our checker marked as passing, email support@pixtidy.com and we refund you in full.
