About pixtidy
pixtidy checks and makes passport and visa photos for 31 documents against the official photo rules. It is run by TENSO LLC, a small company based in Colorado Springs, CO, USA.
How the check works
Your photo is checked in your browser using Google's MediaPipe face and segmentation models. The photo is not uploaded to our servers. It runs ten checks: one face only, framing, head position, eyes open, mouth closed, facing the camera, background, lighting, sharpness and file size. Each one is marked pass, warning or fail before you pay anything.
pixtidy rotates, crops, resizes and pads the photo to the official size, saves it as a JPEG and lays out a 4×6 print sheet. It does not replace backgrounds or retouch faces, and there is no human reviewer.
Where the rules and prices come from
Each document page lists the official government pages its rules come from, and we keep a saved copy of every page we use. Price comparisons quote each company's own page or an official release, with the date we checked it. The requirement data is published as open data on GitHub.
Paying and refunds
The check is free. If you want the finished photo, you pay once; there is no subscription. If an official rejects a photo our checker passed, we refund you in full. See prices on the passport photo cost page.
