Frequently asked questions

›What size is an Australia Passport photo?

Print size 35×45 mm. The head, measured from chin to top of hair, must be 71%–80% of the photo height (32–36 mm from chin to crown on a 45 mm photo). pixtidy exports 827×1063 pixels.

›What are the Australian passport photo requirements?

Two identical colour photos, 35–40 mm wide and 45–50 mm high and less than 6 months old, with your face 32–36 mm from chin to crown, centred, on a plain white or light grey background, with even lighting, no shadows, no retouching and a neutral expression.

›Can I print my Australian passport photo at home?

Not on an inkjet printer. The Passport Office asks for dye-sublimation prints on heavy glossy paper (at least 200 gsm), so print the photo sheet at a photo kiosk or print shop. A professional photographer is recommended but not required, as long as the photo meets the guidelines.

›Can I wear glasses in my Australian passport photo?

No, unless you can't remove them for medical reasons; vision impairment alone is not an accepted reason.

›Can I take an Australia Passport photo at home with my phone?

Yes. Ask someone to take it from about 1–1.5 m away at eye level, in daylight, in front of a plain, light-coloured wall (light grey works well). Face the camera with a neutral expression and remove your glasses unless this document's rules, listed on this page, allow them. Upload it here and we crop, size and check it for you.

›Why do photos get rejected?

The most common reasons are: head too small or too large, shadows on the face or background, wrong background colour, glasses or glare, a tilted head, blur, and photos edited with filters or AI. Our checker tests each of these before you pay.

›Do you edit or retouch my face?

No. Officials reject photos altered with filters or AI, so we only crop, level and resize. We never change your face or replace the background.

›Is my photo uploaded to your servers?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Your photo never leaves your device and we never store it.

›What if my photo is rejected?

If an official rejects a photo our checker marked as passing, email support@pixtidy.com and we refund you in full.
