How to print six 2×2 passport photos on a 4×6 sheet (from $0.29 a print)

Español · Português

A correctly laid-out 4×6 print gives you six 2×2 passport photos, and Walgreens lists that print from $0.29. pixtidy offers a paid "digital photo + 4×6 print sheet" option.

How do you get six passport photos from one 4×6 print?

1. Take and check your photo

Start with your own photo. Check it before making the sheet, because repeating a portrait six times will repeat any sizing or image problems too.

pixtidy offers a free browser check for head size, eye line, background, lighting, and file size. Your photo never leaves your device during that check. The check helps you review the image, but it does not guarantee acceptance.

For a US passport photo, your head must measure 1 to 1 3/8 inches from chin to top of head in the finished print. That is a separate requirement from the photo's outer dimensions.

2. Make the print sheet

Use a sheet prepared for a 4×6-inch print, with six 2×2-inch photos arranged three across the 6-inch side and two down the 4-inch side.

pixtidy's paid "digital photo + 4×6 print sheet" option provides this layout at 300 dpi, with thin cut lines. You upload that print-ready sheet to a photo-print service.

Each copy needs the correct head size within its own 2×2-inch square.

3. Order one 4×6 print for pickup

Upload the prepared sheet, select an ordinary 4×6 photo print, and choose pickup. One 4×6-inch sheet fits six 2×2-inch photos.

Walgreens Photo lists 4×6 prints "From $0.29," checked October 6, 2026. Prices can change and may vary by store or offer. Check your order's displayed price before paying.

4. Check the print, then cut along the lines

After pickup, inspect the sheet for visible printer dots, smudges, creases, or holes. Check the paper and dimensions using the checklist below.

Cut along the thin lines, then measure the finished photos. Each must be 2×2 inches.

Keep the photos flat and clean while handling them. The State Department requires photos without holes, creases, or smudges.

How does the combined cost compare with pharmacy or Post Office service?

Walgreens' in-store passport photo service costs $16.99 for two prints with a digital copy. USPS charges $15 at participating Post Offices. You can also review these service prices on pixtidy's passport photo cost page.

Add the print charge to whatever you pay for the photo file and compare the total with $15 at a participating Post Office or $16.99 at Walgreens. The sheet route gives you six copies; the Walgreens passport service includes two prints and a digital copy, and you do the checking, ordering and cutting yourself.

Price check date: October 6, 2026. Treat the Walgreens listing as a starting price, not a guaranteed price at every store.

What size, paper, and print quality do you need?

Use this compact checklist before submitting a photo. The State Department's official passport photo requirements specify the printed photo's dimensions, head size, paper, and condition.

Order a 4×6-inch sheet for this six-photo layout.

Each finished photo must measure 2×2 inches, or 51×51 mm.

Head size must measure 1 to 1 3/8 inches, or 25–35 mm, from chin to top of head.

Use matte or glossy photo-quality paper.

The print must have no visible printer dots.

The photo must have no holes, creases, or smudges.

Cut along the lines, then measure each finished photo.

Either matte or glossy is allowed. You do not need to choose one over the other for this requirement, but you do need photo-quality paper.

The State Department does not allow photocopies or digitally scanned photos.

Check both the image and the physical print.

When should you upload a digital photo instead?

For DS-11 and DS-82 paper passport applications, you need a printed photo. The 4×6-sheet method is for producing those physical 2×2-inch copies.

For online passport renewal, you upload a digital photo instead. Making a print sheet and cutting out copies is not the photo-submission step for that application method.

Choose the format based on how you are applying. A digital portrait file and a six-photo print sheet serve different purposes, even when they use the same photo.

Common questions

Does the $0.29 price cover everything? No. It is Walgreens' listed starting charge for one ordinary 4×6 print, checked October 6, 2026. pixtidy's "digital photo + 4×6 print sheet" is a paid option. Use the combined-cost comparison above before purchasing.

Can Walmart+ members get the print free? Walmart Photo states that Walmart+ members get 25 free 4×6 photo prints every month, checked October 6, 2026. Order the sheet at 4×6 inches and inspect the finished photos just as you would with a paid print.

Does cutting the photos to 2×2 inches guarantee acceptance? No. Your head size, paper, and print condition must also meet the requirements. Review the State Department's requirements before submitting your application. Neither a browser check, a prepared sheet, nor a print order guarantees acceptance.
