Passport photo maker that doesn't upload your photo

pixtidy makes passport and visa photos entirely in your web browser: face detection, measurement, cropping, the compliance checks and the final JPEG export all run on your own device, so the photo is never uploaded to a server and never stored. You only send a payment request to Stripe; the image itself never leaves your phone or computer.

Why it matters

A passport photo is a biometric identifier: it is used for face matching at borders and in ID systems. Many online photo services upload your picture to their servers to process it, and retention periods are not always clear.

Some US privacy laws treat face geometry as protected biometric data — Illinois' Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) requires written notice, consent and a published retention and destruction schedule. Processing on-device avoids collecting that data in the first place.

How pixtidy works without uploading

When you choose a photo, the page loads open-source face-landmark and segmentation models (Google MediaPipe) into your browser. They find your eyes, chin and the top of your head, then the page crops and sizes the photo to the official specification for your document.

The same code checks head size, eye position, background brightness and evenness, lighting, sharpness, whether your eyes are open and mouth closed, and whether you face the camera. The final JPEG is compressed in the browser to the document's file-size limits.

If you pay, the photo is kept only in your own browser storage across the checkout redirect and deleted after you download it.

What we do not do

We do not retouch faces or replace backgrounds. The U.S. Department of State tells applicants not to change photos with software, filters or AI, and other authorities say the same — so pixtidy only crops, levels and resizes.

How to check any tool yourself

Open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab and watch what is sent when you choose a photo. On pixtidy you will see the model files being downloaded, but no request that carries your image.
