Chinese visa photo requirements (digital 354×472, 40–120 KB)

A Chinese visa digital photo must be between 354×472 and 420×560 pixels, JPEG, 40–120 KB, 24-bit colour, on a white or near-white background without a border. On a 354×472 photo the top of the head should be 10–70 pixels from the upper edge and the eye line more than 256 pixels above the bottom. The paper photo is 33×48 mm with a head height of 28–33 mm.

Digital photo

Dimensions between 354 (width) × 472 (height) and 420 × 560 pixels; RGB 24-bit; JPEG between 40 KB and 120 KB.

Using 354×472 as the example: face width 205 ± 14 pixels, 10–70 pixels between the upper edge and the crown, more than 256 pixels from the bottom edge to the eye line. The inter-eye distance should be more than 60 pixels.

Paper photo

33 mm wide × 48 mm high. Head height from chin to crown 28–33 mm, head width 15–22 mm, 3–5 mm between the crown and the top edge, at least 7 mm between the chin and the bottom edge.

Appearance

Frontal view with the whole head and face visible, neutral expression, eyes open, mouth closed and ears visible. Glasses only if lenses are not tinted and there is no glare. Head coverings only for religious reasons. White or near-white background, no border, taken within the last 6 months.

pixtidy's China visa photo maker crops to these proportions, checks the rules and compresses the JPEG into the 40–120 KB window.
